I finished my classes in December, as you may remember. Four months shy of being 30, which has been my goal for several years. Unfortunately, after so much work, it was feeling a little anti-climactic. December was nuts, so walking wasn't an option. I wasn't going to do it at all, but Jeff assured me I would be happy I did. As is often the case, he was right.
We drove up the evening before so we could spend the night at our friend's house in Laketown. Never heard of it? No surprise here! It's a tiny town on the south side of Bear Lake.
You may remember Wyatt from some pictures in Thailand. From the first time we had him over, he told us about the view of the lake from his porch. It was awesome to finally witness their little piece of heaven ourselves (as usual, when I visit somewhere rural, I never want to leave).
His parents are gems, and made us feel right at home. We left looking at our calendar, trying to figure out when we can go back! "Camping" at Bear Lake now has a different meaning for us! The kids threw sticks in the fire, jumped on the trampoline, played air hockey, played with Wyatt, slept by the fire place, and were spoiled by Sally with an amazing breakfast the next morning. Wyatt is an uncle to many, so our kids feel right at home with him.
Jeff's parents and my parents joined us in Logan for lunch and the graduation ceremony.
Who doesn't love a good graduation ceremony? I'll tell you who... my kids. They were happy before, but there's a reason we have very few pictures afterward!
Jeff's my hero. He should have been wearing a cap and gown too. If I would have married someone who didn't believe finishing was important, I never would have been able to stomach the bill each semester. I felt selfish guilt each time, but he always convinced me we would make it work. We always did, and now I've finally done it!
We said goodbye to the parents
(who drove clear to USU for this really LONG ceremony just for my five seconds of walking across the stage. They should receive some kind of prize for that alone, right?), then decided we at least wanted to walk through campus to see the changes that have happened since we left.
They needed a little perking up though. Nothing a little hill rolling can't do.
We showed the kids where we used to go to class, where we used to study, the libraries (Jack couldn't believe how big they were), the rehearsal room, and the practice rooms that I spent hundreds of hours in, and most importantly, the creamery. Can't be in Logan without treating yourself to a little Aggie ice cream! This was our best attempt at a family pictures. Sad, I know.
It was a very fun weekend. Too short though. We loved Laketown (thank you Lamborns). And every time we go to Logan, we daydream about moving and raising our family there. We LOVE Logan.
Since we didn't get many pictures in my cap and gown, I asked my friend, Jade, to take a few for me while she did our family pictures yesterday. She did a great job, and I was glad this one turned out so fun, even though the kids were spent. Would you even know that by the look on the kids' faces? THAT'S the sign of a good photographer!
